A IS FOR ADIPEAU
Adipeau is a unique product duo we just introduced to the studio. Consisting of a gel and a cream, the purpose of Adipeau is twofold. First, the gel helps tone dermal fat cells in order to boost collagen production. Then, the cream helps stimulate maturation of dermal fat cells to increase skin volume.
What’s that? You didn’t know we had dermal fat cells? Why yes! At the reticular layer of the dermis (bottom layer of skin), we have a layer of dermal white adipose tissue (dWAT). These fat cells are concentrated around the base of our hair follicles and play several important roles. The role we’re concerned with in this context is their involvement in collagen production, via the fibroblast. dWAT and fibroblasts share embryogenetic origins, meaning there is a fascinating connection between dermal fat cells and wound healing (neocollagenesis).
All this to say – the condition of your dermal fat is very important. In an ideal world, we’d have an abundance of small and toned dermal fat cells. This would keep collagen and elastin production high, making the skin firm and bouncy. However, with age and lifestyle factors the dermal fat cells become bloated, reducing collagen, elastin and HA production by up to 80%, thus contributing to sagging and crepey texture. Adipeau has the ability to reverse these effects.
The HOW TO is very important.
Start with the Strong Body Gel (meant for face and body), for 4-8 weeks. After cleansing, apply to the face, neck, and any areas of laxity on the body. Let it sit for 10 minutes before applying any other products. During this strengthening process, lipids are being pushed out of the fat cells, helping tone them to a healthy size.
After skin is sufficiently strengthened, add in the Active Face Cream, with results visible in about 6 weeks. But you won’t layer! You can alternate days or AM/PM. You’ll finger paint the cream onto areas of volume loss – this tends to be the under eyes, nasolabial folds, temples, lips, neck and hands. Again, let the product sit for 10 minutes to absorb. The action here is encouraging proliferation of new dermal fat cells to restore volume.
EASY EXFOLIATOR
You’re probably familiar with French skincare brand Cosmetics 27, most notably their incredible Baume 27 moisturizers. Well they also have a delightful exfoliating powder called Peel 27. This powder features three exfoliating elements – there’s Apricot Kernel powder for the physical polish, Papaya Enzyme for enzymatic exfoliation, and Succinic Acid for chemical cell removal. As always, C27 is transparent about their ingredients, and this formula clocks in at 98.3% natural origin.
Peel 27 is a great option for those with sensitive or delicate skin who need some gentle exfoliation without feeling the burn. It’s also perfect for anyone who likes to add that physical buffing to the more common chemical/acidic exfoliation. Mix a little powder with a few drops of water so it lathers up, then gently massage into the skin avoiding your eyes. Use it twice a week for optimal results.
