Don’t Call Them Resolutions

Happy New Year!!!

2023 was a giant year, at least for us! We opened Raquel New York, then a few months later I got married… two big milestones in one year. But now that 2024 is upon us, it’s time to look ahead and welcome the excitement and possibility the new year always brings.

I’m not much for resolutions, but I do like setting intentions. I think about the ways I want to challenge myself, the person I’d like to become and the things I want to accomplish. Being squarely in my late 30s, gone are the resolutions to go to more concerts or whatever I was into as a youf. Health has become a big focus. Strengthening bonds with my family is another. Growing the studio, in a thoughtful and authentic way, is another intention we’ve been ruminating on lately.

When we opened our own business we had a few goals in mind. We wanted to create a welcoming, calming space that we felt excited to enter every day, and we wanted to attract like minded clients who share our interest in the pursuit of healthy skin. You are those clients. I feel a sense of connection and community with you all that I marvel at every day. I learn so much from our conversations and feel my life is fuller and richer as a result. So thank you for choosing us and for being so trusting, supportive and inspiring.

Our aim as a facial studio is simply to help everyone who walks through our doors achieve the healthiest skin they can. We want to educate people on how to accomplish that, fight stigma around aging, and do this without an ounce of judgment.

I’ve always said I like to meet people where they’re at. A 10-step routine isn’t essential, and it’s more important to find consistency and balance than to try every new product and device that pops onto our feed. If you’re a maximalist at heart, I salute you. But for those who crave simple and quick, I’ve got you, too. Part of the joy of getting to know you is learning about your lives, which helps me cherry pick the ideal products to fit your lifestyle, not the other way around.

We all know what makes us feel our best. So I encourage you to follow your intuition when it comes to how you engage in self-care. In that way, I’m disengaging with the idea of New Year’s Resolutions and instead committing to an intuitively healthy lifestyle. I’ll move when I feel compelled to, choose foods that make my insides feel good, rest when my body and mind tell me I need to, and welcome the little indulgences that make life fun.

We can follow the same intuition when it comes to our skin. Although I call it intuition, I know that sometimes it takes a little training to recognize what our bodies are telling us. It can be hard to cut through the noise of expert opinions and influencer recommendations and zero in on what is right for each of us. So that’s another intention that I have for the coming year – to share the fundamentals of skincare and help you learn how to recognize what your skin wants and when.

I’m looking forward to spending this year with you, and making it the healthiest and most fun one yet.

xoxo Raquel
