End Of Summer Skin Reset
Back to (Skin) School
Happy Labor Day!
As the sun sets on the last (official) day of summer, estheticians everywhere begin rubbing their hands together with glee. This, my dudes, is Treatment Season™️.
Summer is glorious and wonderful – all that time outside, basking (safely) in the sun and swimming in the sea. Hot days, late nights, letting loose. It’s all great for the soul, but it comes with its share of damage to the skin. Thankfully, we have solutions for that. Read on to learn what I recommend for the most common concerns…
ISSUE: DEHYDRATION
At Home: CO2 Lift Pro
Sun, salt water, and spritzes all lead to dehydrated skin, and the CO2 Lift Pro mask is the perfect antidote. Utilizing carboxytherapy, this jelly mask traps the skin with CO2, forcing oxygen-rich blood to flood the capillaries. That blood brings nutrients, immunoregulatory substances, promotes neocollagenesis, reduces inflammation, and boosts hydration 117%.
In Studio: DF Machine
One of the many modalities at our disposal is the Environ DF Machine. Using a combination of Ultrasound and Pulsed Iontophoresis, this revolutionary machine (created by Environ founder Dr. Des Fernandes) increases product penetration by 40x. The currents can be delivered through a probe or through mask clips – the Environ Alginate Mask is an extra cooling conductive medium that peels off the face in an Eyes Without A Face kind of way.
ISSUE: REDNESS
At Home: SIV Biome Balancing Serum
Redness is a broad concern, because at it’s core it just means inflammation. It could be caused by sunburn, rosacea, dermatitis, etc. SIV is an incredibly unique product that calms skin inflammation at the source – the microbiome. Using Bacillus spores, SIV introduces transient microbes to the skin to create microbial homeostasis. The result is calm, even skin.
In Studio: Red LED
If you have had a facial with us, you may have noticed that we have three different LED sources in the treatment room. When it comes to LED, we don’t play! They’re all a little different, but one thing they all have in common is the Red wavelength. Red LED reduces inflammation by improving mitochondrial function, which reduces inflammatory signalling. As little as five minutes under the right Red LED visibly reduces inflammation in the skin.
ISSUE: PIGMENTATION
At Home: Serious Clarity 4X
Pigmentation is a beast to treat – that’s why an intelligently formulated product with multiple active ingredients is needed. Neova’s Serious Clarity 4X serum incorporates four key ingredients to synergistically inhibit melanin, interfere with pigment emergence and brighten skin.
In Studio: The Bio-Stimulator
Our newest treatment is called The Bio-Stimulator, and it is my favorite way to reduce stubborn pigment. Using spicules derived from freshwater sponges, The Bio-Stimulator rapidly exfoliates suboptimal epidermal cells, promotes the release of growth factors to increase collagen production, and delivers 11 synergistic active ingredients deep into the skin where they get to work combatting hyperpigmentation. It’s done as a series of three treatments, two weeks apart – in six weeks you’ll see a marked improvement in pigment, texture, pore size, fine lines and firmness.
ISSUE: ROUGH SKIN
At Home: Environ Intensive Revival Mask
Rough skin, build-up, dullness, whatever you call it, it all translates to the same thing – an excess of dead skin cells on the surface. And, smartly, you weren’t using your acids religiously while you were in the sun, so you likely returned home from vacation with skin that’s a little rougher than usual. The number one way to treat it? Exfoliation. When it’s time to break out the big guns, my favorite product is Environ’s Intensive Revival Mask. This blend of three Alpha Hydroxy Acids will remove all that build up in 10 minutes flat. Just make sure to keep this mask to once a week use, as it packs a punch.
In Studio: Environ Cool Peels
Don’t have Intensive Revival Mask or want to keep this level of exfoliation to the professionals? We have something a little stronger in our arsenal. The Environ Cool Peels are so advanced while still being gentle enough for weekly use with no downtime. We’ll choose between Lactic or Trichloroacetic Acid and a cream or gel formulation based on your skin and level of tolerance. Expect to walk out with bright, smooth and glowing skin.

It’s Written In The Stars
September always ushers in big changes along with a new season. Monica David, our resident astrology buff, gives us the lowdown on all the changes coming our way this month.
Get ready for some major shifts in life, especially for strong Virgo and Pisces placements, as we are entering eclipse season! Eclipses always happen in opposing signs, highlighting certain areas of our lives through these oppositional forces. Virgo is grounded, analytical, factual, pays attention to the details, and likes to refine in tangible ways. Virgos are also usually health conscious, and care about their day to day routines. On the other hand, Pisces is floating in the realm of fantasy, immersed in spirituality, feeling, intuition, dreams, fantasies, and healing – they see life through a more spiritual lens, and they tend to idealize.
The full moon lunar eclipse in Pisces takes place on September 7th, and emotions will most likely be heightened in the sentimental and empathetic sign of Pisces. Usually matters come to light during a full moon eclipse, and we may be forced by life’s circumstances to finally make a needed change. It can be draining, as change can feel sudden and shocking at times – but it’s usually for the best, so let the universe do its thing!
On September 21st, the new moon solar eclipse occurs in the opposite sign of Virgo. The new moon will clear a path for a new beginning for several months following this eclipse. Virgo is all about refining and perfecting, so themes surrounding our day to day routines, health, and work matters may come up for review.
Get ready to “let go” as eclipses force changes upon us that are absolutely necessary, whether we like it or not!
