How To Get That Spring In Your Step

Get Those Feet
Baby Soft & Supple
One of my favorite NYC phenomena is how the moment the temperature rises above 50º, even if it’s February, everyone sheds their layers and heads outside. As a native San Diegan, I’m still in my down puffer until it’s at least 60º, but those first hints of warmth remind me that it’s time to get my tootsies in order. After a long winter spent in hot baths and heavy boots, my feet need some extra love before they’re in any state to be seen. Here’s how I like to prep them for the open toe weather ahead.
FIRST, I MOLT. Out with the old exoskeleton, in with the new!
Just kidding. But I do exfoliate! I like to use something scrubby in the shower, like the Verso Body Peel with AHA, BHA & PHA, or the Costa Brazil Exfoliante Para O Corpo Body Scrub. Then when I’m out and towelled off, I’ll apply the Environ Derma-Lac Lotion and Body Oil Forte all over. I like to focus on my feet with the remnants of my Neova 5-Second Daily Peel Pads – there is so much product left on the pads after swiping my face and neck, so I put them to good use softening my rough heels.
This is what I do on a regular basis, but if you really want to jump start your journey to spring feet, use Baby Foot Sock Masks. These are the OG exfoliating socks and they are not for the faint of heart, or if you’re on a time crunch. Use these at least two weeks before exposing your feet, otherwise onlookers might actually think you’re molting.
NEXT, I MOISTURIZE.
I’m the queen of creams, you know I have them all. My go-to is the C27 Baume 27 Creme Corps. It’s thick but not heavy and soaks into the skin sooooo nicely, making my skin soft and silky. If I’m feeling particularly luxurious and want to smell intoxicating, I’ll combine Costa Brazil’s Kaya Jungle Firming Oil with their Creme Para O Corpo. This is another route to that silky result.
FINALLY, I CALL IN THE PROFESSIONALS.
I have two go-to professional foot treatments. The first is a foot massage from our very own Sophie Bolvary. The girl loves feet. Not in a creepy way, but in a ‘feet are so incredible and resilient for supporting our bodies and look at these cool muscles and bones’ way. I love listening to Sophie compliment people on their feet; she really sees them in a way I have never ever considered. Her passion for feet inspired The Footy. It’s a 60 or 90 minute foot and calf massage and you can book it alone or at the same time as your facial. Have both ends of your body tended to at once. Talk about ultimate self-care! I also love a spa pedicure. I danced ballet for a decade and my feet definitely tell the tale. But a surefire way to mask some of that damage is to soak my feet in a warm bath and have them professionally buffed and trimmed and polished to perfection. However, I absolutely loathe watching paint dry, so I opt for gel pedicures. Everyone gets gel manis, but gel pedis are really where it’s at. The color looks immaculate for a solid month until it’s time to have them tended to again. My go-to is CND Shellac in Asphalt. I like to book in at Jin Soon after work on a Saturday so I can pop right over (5 minute walk from the studio!) and make it home by the baby’s bedtime. Chef’s kiss!
Can’t wait to see all your little tootsies on display soon!

It’s Written In The Stars
March not only ushers in spring, but some new astrological news. Our very own Monica David, esthetician and astrology buff, shares the skinny on the stars this month.
After nearly 3 months of Mars being retrograde, we have finally shifted into a direct motion! Hooray! Our energy levels, assertion, drive, physical vitality, and desires should finally start to feel back on track as Mars slowly turns direct again – but not too fast, because just as Mars turns direct, lovely Venus will start to retrograde March 1st to April 12th! And joining Venus will be Mercury, who will also retrograde from March 15th to April 7th.
Both of these planets will be retrograding between the signs of sensitive Pisces and bold Aries. Venus rules love, beauty, self worth, money, our social lives, and how we enjoy ourselves while Mercury rules communication, travel, intellect, and technology. All of these things will come up for re-evaluation during this time frame. If you thought that was a lot, there’s also a full moon total lunar eclipse in Virgo on March 14th!
Eclipses are usually a time of sudden changes and new beginnings that we seemingly don’t have control over, so make way for a new you. Lastly, dreamy and fantastical Neptune will be going into the sign of Aries, and the last time Neptune was in this sign was 1875! March is a doozy!
