Skin Savers For Your Escape

Travel Wisely, Your Skin Will Thank You
And just like that, I’m back in the stu’! My little Séamus is 8 weeks old (🤯 how did that happen??!) and I’m happily facialing away again. If you’re not booked in, let’s change that! I’d love to see you and catch up 😊
If you’re one of the incredibly lucky people who plans to escape these windy, subzero NYC days, then I’m happy for you. I will be here, trying my best to avoid wind burn on my cheeks as I scurry to and from only the most essential appointments, or wearing a balaclava if my husband forces me to leave the apartment against my will for these walks he loves so much.
For those of you making your way to more tropical climes, I’ve compiled a list of my best skincare travel tips to take you from one climate extreme to another.
Tip 1: A Cleanser That Does It All
Cleansing is the foundation of every good skincare routine, and Lait Midy by Olivier Midy is the ideal product for all skin and all climates. It has a luxurious oil-to-milk composition that removes makeup, sunscreen and travel grime without leaving a film on the skin. But it doesn’t stop there – the cleanser also contains neuropeptide Argireline to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, as well as their proprietary BA106 technology – a blend of potent botanicals and Icelandic Glacial Microalgae to promote collagen synthesis, boost hydration and provide antioxidant protection and repair. It clocks in at 100 mL, so just the right size for carry on air travel.
Tip 2: Reome’s Active Recovery Broth provide a Goldilocks punch of moisture – not too heavy, but not too light. You can thank the biotech ingredient list for that. Botanicals like Snow Fungus and Sacred Lotus Flower hydrate and calm the skin, while bio-fermented minerals strengthen the barrier. Apply a few drops morning and night for glowing, serene skin.
Tip 3: Multitasking Treatments
Suitcase space is precious, and you don’t want to have to choose between your skincare and an extra pair of shoes, so I love to bring multitasking products when I travel. The 5-Second Daily Peel from Neova is the perfect example. These individually wrapped peel pads contain Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Acids to gently exfoliate the skin, along with your nightly dose of Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (aka retinol) to boost collagen, repair UV damage and protect against free radicals. I’ve said it a thousand times, retinoids are non-negotiable! These pads are a fantastic nightly treatment to wake up to smooth and glowing skin. Just remember, these are a no-no during daylight due to the type of retinoid.
Tip 4: A Universal Moisturizer
We’re getting low on toiletry bag space here, so it’s time to wrap up the routine. Everyone needs a moisturizer, and one in particular springs to mind. Rinascita delle Olive Replenishing Balm from Furtuna is a family-friendly, all-weather balm that smells absolutely incredible. It can even do triple duty on lips and cuticles or any other dry patches. Powered by wild foraged botanicals in Sicily and with a base of Olive Oil from their grove of ancient trees, the Replenishing Balm feels like a hug for your skin. Use a tiny bit for warmer weather and slather it on for cold and dry conditions. This is a good one to keep in the airplane cabin with you to combat the horrible dryness.
Tip 5: Always Wear SPF
Lightweight yet Heavy Duty Hydration
If you’re moving from cold and dry to hot and humid or vice versa, you’d think your products would have to change completely, right? Not if you’re using the right ones. Serums like less of a tip and more of a reminder – sunscreen is a daily essential. The formula you choose is up to you, and all of our options are under the 100 mL carry on volume limit.
Happy Traveling!
