Summer Skincare Tips: Hacks to Keep Your Skin Healthy in the Heat
Summer skincare doesn’t have to be complicated. While the sunny days invite us to slow down and relax, our skin still needs attention — from sun protection to cleansing and healing. Here are our team’s top tips to keep your skin healthy all summer long.

Tip 1: Use the correct amount of sunscreen to achieve proper coverage – it’s a lot more than you’d think! 1/2 teaspoon is needed for the face and neck, and at least 2 oz for full body. Look at it this way – your tube of body sunscreen only has a few applications in it.
Tip 2: Physical protection is always an option – think wide brimmed hats, long sleeves, pants, etc. This goes for swimwear, too. Some of my faves for chic/fun UPF options are Watskin, Claudent and Tutu Blue. Uniqlo is great too when you need something fast/inexpensive for the whole family.
Tip 3: Oil cleansers are amazing at removing sunscreen and sweat, and they aren’t just for your face. Bioderma and La Roche Posay make fantastic options in large format pump bottles for your entire body, to last you all summer long.

Tip 1: Start building a bitchin’ big-brim hat collection. Your face, neck and décolleté will thank you for it!
Tip 2: Wear sunscreen on your hands while you drive or bike!
Tip 3: Swim, swim, swim. Water is immensely healing (but don’t forget your Vacation Classic SPF 30 Spray) !

Tip 1: Try hypochlorous acid in a fan spray bottle. Hypochlorous acid is a summer staple. We are all familiar with the classic fan spray bottle combo – but instead of water, fill it up with hypochlorous acid, which offers added benefits. After a sweaty subway ride in the city muck, cooling off while killing bacteria is a win-win!
Tip 2: Use Lip SPF. Always under utilized, lips need protection too!!
Tip 3: Amp up your exfoliation – especially if you’re acne prone – as summertime can lead to more build up and congestion. Masking with Sofie Pavitt Reset Mask (for inflamed acne) or the Environ Revival Mask (non inflamed) will really help bring your skin back to homeostasis.
