Travel Tips to Keep Skin Tip Top

Before you pack your toiletry, bag and turn on your OOO, there are a few summer skin tidbits we need to discuss. Whether you’re staying near or traveling far, your summer skin goal should be a healthy glow, and here’s how to make sure you achieve it.

1. You knew this was coming first – SUNSCREEN! I’m all for soaking up the warmth of the sun on these long summer days, as long as it’s done responsibly. Double your UV protection with Neova Everyday Facial Fluid SPF 44 or Silc Sheer SPF 40. Not only will you be getting broad spectrum protection (that’s protection against UVA & UVB), but the addition of DNA Repair Enzymes ensures your DNA won’t be permanently scrambled from the small amounts of UV radiation that do make it through! Just remember to reapply to exposed skin every 2 hours and don’t skimp.

2. An absolute must-have for summer skincare is Magic Molecule The Solution. It’s a potent hypochlorous acid spray, available in full size and travel size spray bottles. Hypochlorous Acid is an all around star for your first aid needs, whether it’s to soothe a sunburn (tsk tsk), reduce inflammation and itchiness from bug bites, disinfect scratches from traipsing through the brambles, or even calming an eczema or rosacea flare. The best part is it can be used on adults, children, babies, and pets. Spray it anywhere skin is red or inflamed and enjoy the ensuing relief.

3. If you’re striving to keep your travel bag light, there are a few multi-tasking products I highly recommend that also tick the boxes of light, hydrating and protective summer skincare.

  • Cosmetics 27 Cleanser 27: Avoid messy liquid spills in your dopp kit with this balm cleanser. The base of oils means it will dissolve sunscreen and makeup just as well as an oil cleanser, but with the convenience of a solid balm. Micronized bamboo powder ever so gently exfoliates, dissolving in water as it turns into an emulsion that rinses clean.
  • Reome Active Recovery Broth: It sits somewhere between toner and serum in terms of texture, and it packs a serious punch in the hydration department. Broth is the perfect descriptor for it. Bring this along as your toner/serum hybrid for use after cleansing, morning and night.
  • Environ C-Quence Serums: Lightweight yet creamy, my all time favorite blend of Vitamins A, C & E (with peptides to hydrate and firm) easily takes the place of a moisturizer in the warmer, more humid months. The best part is, this particular derivative of Vitamin A actually increases sun protection instead of causing photosensitivity, making it perfect for daily or twice daily use.

It’s Written In The Stars

Our fab facialist, Monica David is an avid astrologer who offers readings during her treatments. Here, she gives us some highlights for August

It’s officially Leo season! A fun, confident, passionate sign that loves to have fun – but don’t get too excited, because Mercury is officially retrograde August 4th. When the planet of communication, short distance travel, and technology goes retrograde, expect delays and mishaps regarding these things.

You may also take the time to review something before actually launching it, as this is not a good time for any projects or major decisions to come to fruition; rather, you should take the time to think things over as a retrograde period is good for looking inward.

It’s easy to get caught up in a negative mindset during retrogrades, but don’t fret! This is a great time to revisit anything from the past that maybe wasn’t dealt with properly.  On August 4th, there is also a new moon in Leo, and a new moon usually represents a time of letting go, or an ending of something, so that we can start fresh.

Mercury will go direct August 28th, and Venus will enter the sign of Libra August 29th where it feels right at home, since Venus rules Libra.  We can expect love and romance to go more smoothly, and relationship to flourish during this time!
